SCHEDULING A MEDIATION SESSION:

To reserve a date for mediation contact Jake at 310.207.9898, or send him an e-mail at Jake@JakeMediates.com. Please provide at least 3 possible dates and the names and contact information for all parties/attorneys who will be involved in the mediation.

Mediations are conducted in minimum half-day sessions (4 hours). Please indicate if you expect to need more than a half-day session.

LOCATION:

Mediations are conducted outdoors (weather permitting) at our ocean side location. The location creates a calm and pleasant environment that facilitates the process. Jake will travel to other locations under special circumstances but encourages the parties to avail them of our unique setting.

FEES:

Jake will discuss fees in initial telephone conversations following your inquiry into scheduling a mediation. Fees must be deposited to reserve a confirmed date. The fees are refundable less a 10% administrative fee until 14 days before the scheduled mediation.

Reasonable preparation time and telephone follow up is included in the fee for the session.

PRE-MEDIATION CONSULTATION:

Jake is available for a pre-mediation telephone conference to answer any questions and to discuss customizing the mediation process to suit the parties needs.

BRIEFS:

Jake encourages the submission of written briefs, by mail, fax or e-mail attachment. The briefs should summarize the key factual and legal issues in dispute. Jake does not require a restatement of basic legal principles. However, if there is a specific point of law that is disputed or new case law or statutes that apply then please brief those issues. Please provide pictures where appropriate. In personal injury cases please outline the medical issues involved and provide key medical reports and all medical bills.

Please submit the briefs at least 3 days prior to the mediation to allow Jake the opportunity to review them prior to the mediation. This will allow Jake to be familiar with the case prior to the commencement of the mediation thus maximizing the time available at the actual mediation session.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

All parties and their attorneys should be present at the mediation. It is especially important that the persons who have the authority to negotiate and settle, including insurance representatives be in attendance.

CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT:

The parties shall be required to execute a mediation confidentiality agreement. To download our form agreement, click here.
